Weaving on a Rigged Heddel Loom
Weaving with a rigged heddel loom. When I was farming in Sheepranch, California in the winter of 2010-11 I had one of these. I only worked on it a bit and did a workshop with it for the Cuatro Caminos Collective after I left Sheepranch and comrade Iris bought it from me.
Comrade Ned found one in the Free Box at the Taala Hooghan Infoshop in Flagstaff, Arizona and I got it set up today in the Sheepherders' Lending Library. Wow, sheep keep coming up...

Square Foot Gardening
In one of the documents, Futuresend, Fred Ho shared with me about his current organization included high praise for Fukuoaka, whose One Straw Revolution was one of the first books I read about farming, during my second or third season in the midwest if my memory serves me correctly. Though I enjoyed the book, I was somewhat skeptical since it dealt with citrus farming and advocated using a homemade petroleum based pesticide. I haven't read anymore of his work since then.
Further into the document, another form of agriculture is described and seems to be more relevant: "Mel Bartholomew's 'square foot gardening' principles and proposals (www.squarefootgardening.com) have guided the socialist gardening project of the Scientific Soul Sessions (www.scientificsoulsessions.com) project of a group of 'people of color' revolutionaries based in Harlem, New York City. According to Bartholomew, for urban settings, four square feet is all that is needed
to grow vegetable gardens to feed two adults year-round. Roof tops, sidewalks, parks, front and backyards, common areas of buildings, could all become food growing sources with minimal alteration and cost." Card weaving: http://www.hollowtop.com/spt_html/weaving.htm

1st Run with the Yuba Mundo
Dumpstered Crates are stackable and lock together (also nesting). Need to balance out bike with crates on other side, and may have to lash bottom crate onto frame to secure cargo better (only secured with a piece of wood used as batting with carriage bolts and wing nuts that go thru wood, crate, deck wood, and out the bottom).
17 bunches of greens (kale, papalo, basil, collards) and one floral arrangement.
